Is this in the Camargue? Where are you getting the information that Coypus aren't found in the south of France? Coypus are common in the Camargue and have been for a long time.
I had a look on the Wikipedia page for Coypu. That map is credited as an "own work" of the person who added it, and it is just nonsense. Not only doesn't it include places in Europe in which Coypu are found - it also includes places Coypu aren't found! Literally every other map of Coypu distribution in Europe will give you a completely different range to that one.
