It's whale season down in Victoria as well but unfortunately i'll have to wait till next year due to then situation. Reminds me of my first (and only) whale sighting of two humpbacks double breaching.
@TZDugong For some reason Phillip Island is unbelievable for whale watching, only two species are commonly seen with two irregular species. Whales can be seen on all sides of the island from land or sea, sometimes they are even spotted on the bay side with the occasional whale showing up at piers. Phillip Island is just so good for marine life in general wherether you're looking for Marine mammals, penguins, seabirds (although they elude me on the island quite often), shorebirds, marine invetebrates, obscure species of fish including Stingarees, Chimeras and Gurnard Perches and so much more.
Common species: Humpback, Southern Right
Occasional: Orca (not a whale but fits in WW season)
Irregular: Sperm, Minkie
