Reticulated gila monster (Heloderma suspectum suspectum)

Oracle State Park, Pinal County, Arizona
Nice. Funny I was just thinking yesterday and today that I would like to photograph a gila monster. I have only seen one twice in the wild, over two decades ago, both times at Sabino Canyon (which is now closed until Nov. 1).

One thing I will say is if you want to see and photograph them in the wild, stay a safe distance, at least 5 feet away. Their bites are extremely painful!

I was planning on picking one up to move it into position for the best photograph! ;)

I have not been to Sabino for many years (except one quick visit two years ago for work, no time to explore).
