VC. I think it is a scorpian fly Panorpa communis, possibly a femail as they don't have the scorpian like "sting"
I once went out catching flies for the treefrogs I then kept, and went home rather pleased with my self only to find when I opend the jar one live Scorpian fly and a pile of dead bodies, it had killed everything else.
