Easily my favorite cattle. Every time I visit Phillip Island we visit the local Highland Cows at Churchill island, and they are just super cool, they are fluffy, long horns. What else could you want from a bovid?

@Yoshistar888 Highland cattle are a rather cool breed of cattle indeed, and probably one of my favorites. Here in Europe they are often used for grazing in nature reserves and other natural areas, and sometimes, like in Han, kept in wildlife parks. One major reason for this is that they are a very hardy bred that can be kept outdoors year round.

Interesting 'fact' (which may or may not be true) - Queen Victoria loved Scotland and spent a lot of time there. She particularly liked these ginger coloured cattle, so they became much more popular than the black ones, which are rarely seen to this day. I think the black ones are much nicer. Look at the other photos and make up your own mind.

Agreed, I like the black ones better. They feel more sleek in a sense. Although the objective of a cow isn't to be sleek ;)

@gentle lemur I did not know that, thank you for the information. I did notice that the black Highland cattle seem rare - in fact Han was one of the first times and places I have ever seen them. I like the red Highland cattle just fine but perhaps I like the black ones even a little more.
