@Yoshistar888 There're 13 European holders according to Zootierliste. I personally saw them in Smithsonian, Philadelphia and Bronx, though the Smithsonian ones have been off view (and probably left the collection) since 2016.
@Yoshistar888 I won't say that Malagasy Giant Rat are common in Europe, but I have seen them in a couple of zoos.
If I'm correct, Jersey was the first zoo to keep this species.
Rotterdam Zoo was one of the first or maybe even the first on the continent, as the zoo got some rats from Jersey in 1998. They were kept in the diurnal section of the former monkey & nocturnal house, together with bamboo lemurs. See my map in the gallery of Rotterdam Zoo, were I misspelled the name of this species as "votsata".
