The Lion exhibit looks strange, but is great for the Lions, especially when all the trees start growing. It is full of structure and it is huge, but unless they have a big pride, it is not great for the visitors....
Well, the old lion enclosure was completely sufficient for the animals. Many other animals in Doue urgently needed to get new facilities - and above all stables, such as the giraffes.
There are certainly more sensible ways to feed lions. For example, by feeding them full bodies - and I'm not talking about guinea pigs. How they do that e.g. in Nuremberg - and I think their Lion exhibit is, despite their age, much more successful than this "creative" Masterpiece by Monsieur Gay.
But in general this lion crater looks a little better than the lion "exhibit" in Hamburg, ha, ha.
