Wyoming Ground Squirrel

Taken in Gypsum, Colorado. It was a little bit bigger than a gray squirrel, and didn't have a bushy tail. It ran into its burrow when I tried to get closer, so I know it's a ground squirrel. I doubt it's a prairie dog. It also has a black stripe stretching from its nose to its eyes.
In Gypsum it would have to be a Wyoming Ground Squirrel (U. elegans). The Richardson's Ground Squirrel (U. richardsonii) is found well north of Colorado, along the Canadian border.

The two species used to be considered conspecific so in older literature they might be lumped.

@elefante only if you're using old taxonomy. The only Urocitellus in Wyoming are elegans and armatus. U. richardsonii is (in the USA) found from Montana across to Minnesota and South Dakota.
