Squirrel Monkey Exhibit

Dec 2008. There were no primates in this enclosure, and all of the squirrel monkeys are together with the howler monkeys in the brand new "Amazon and Beyond" section of the zoo.

Great! I cant wait to see what the metrozoo will put in here...its one of the few small mammal exhibits in the whole zoo. For years, this enclosure held Serval.

It used to house serval, the new zoo map said spot-nosed guenon, and then the actual sign on the exhibit said squirrel monkeys. But after hanging out for a full ten minutes I'm fairly positive that the enclosure was empty, along with the white-faced saki cage down the path. All of those primates are now found in Amazon and Beyond, and so the zoo definitely has options for the empty habitats.

That's great that Miami will be participating in the Guenon/Mangabey taxas. In fact in the 1980s, this exhibit also house DeBrazza's Guenon and the exhibit itself was built for Mandrills.
