Boy I wish we still had these in the U.S.

When was last time an African one in captivity, be it in Europe or America?

I don't know all i read is that they are rarely kept in captivity.

Port Lympne is the only place where I've ever seen African golden cats - and that was many years ago.

Yes, I remember his post, and also how he put it, "a (very) private facility in SA" i.e. unable to be viewed unless you know the owner or someone who knows him.

Incidentally, because Steve wrote 'SA' some Australian users almost fainted! Could it be that Australia housed a pair of these, even in private?! Too bad for them that Steve meant 'South Africa' and not 'South Australia'!

I was one of those who thought he meant South Australia, then had to edit my post a few minutes later when I realised he was off in Africa picking out lions

Fantastic picture! Are they "Lao" and "Sua Fai"? I have just read a 2013 paper about the AI of "Sua Fai" because of the deadly aggression of "Lao" towards her. And how many Asiatic golden cats are kept in Allwetter Zoo now? Thank you!
