Thanks for that. I visit their facebook page regularly to see any updates but I hadn't seen this yet. It's so infomative and up to date. I can't decide what's cuter out of the baby hog deer or the baby maned wolf.
Considering there are feral populations here you would think that every zoo would have a couple. There are a few other species that don't seem to get exhibited here because they live in the wild in Australia. Banteng are another introduced species that Altina keep but aren't found in many other places. I've only seen them at Dubbo.
same thing in NZ, very few of the "proper" zoos have any sort of deer, or tahr or chamois, all of which would be very easy to get hold of. They barely even seem to bother with wallabies! The usual excuse is of course because they need the room to hold endangered species, which is a bit of a crock if you ask me.
