Makaia, Nupela, and the male joey might be of the Buergers' subspecies of Goodfellow's tree-roos, D. g. buergesi.
Hence, their separation from Blue, her mother and the geriatric male in the outdoor tree-kangaroo habitat, all of whom appear to be of the nominate subspecies.
