@birdsandbats it’s because they could have used that space for animals. The main problem at the zoo right now is that they don’t plan on adding many new animals in there upcoming plans, just boring amenities like a ropes corse or a camping experience. The zoo doesn’t think it’s a zoo, and hasn’t done anything substantial ever since the monk seals arrived. This “renovation” only made the exhibit look less natural and more cheesy. They could have easily used the money they used to renovate the aviaries, tiger lair, or the dinosaurs, to something more important like the treetops trail, new Japanese macaque exhibit, nocturnal trail, or the new red panda/urial exhibit. Instead they used it on pointlessly renovations. The zoo is going through a rough patch right now, but I hope soon, they can get the more necessary projects completed. I wish Lee Ehmke was still the Director of the zoo, as he is behind some of the greatest zoo exhibits of our time, such as Russia’s grizzly coast(at Minnesota zoo)& South America’s pantanal(at Houston zoo).
@birdsandbats that is now used as the popular jack-o lantern spectacular, where they put thousands of pumpkins onto the trail. I is actually quite fun and I enjoyed the extremely detailed carvings on the pumpkins. But they could still use the space for the Dino’s in the summer.
