Vicuña and Darwin's rhea paddock, 2020-07-14

Two species common in Europe but almost entirely absent from North American zoos.

Vicuñas and Darwin's rheas are some of my favorite larger South American species. Too bad you have to miss out on them in North American zoos.

Do you know of any reasons for this discrepancy in collections between Europe and North America? Is this something historical or a result of different choices in collection management?
