The savannah stable at Kolmården. This stable houses all the animals on the zoo-savannah and the desert. The part with all the doors houses the savannah animals and the part to the right without a wall the desert animals. To the left outside of the picture is a connection to the savannah and to the right a connection to the desert. To the left of the stable is a connection to the elephant enclosure and a paddock behind the stable.

This stable dates back to the opening of the park in 1965. For about 10-15 years ago the stable was completely renovated and is now really nice. At the same time, it was also extended with a new rhino stable. The rhinos lived in the elephant house “Kolosseum” at the end of the elephant enclosure. This stable had become too small for the rhinos as the group had grown and it was also quite hard to move them back and forth through the elephant enclosure every day. An extension of the savannah stable was built at the back side of the stable, right behind the large tree. Now the rhinos have access to both stables, and the group is often split up between the stables.
