@amur leopard The "Achoque" (The Mexican name for the Patzcuaro salamander) is quite easy to identify if you look for the right characteristics.

It usually has a yellowy coloured / "pea soup" coloured skin (compared with the wild type axolotl's gray / black and sometimes olive and gold speckled skin colour) , a wider head, and the gills tend to have a lot more of a "fluffier" or "fuzzier" (for want of better adjectives) appearance than those of the axolotl.
