@DaLilFishie I agree. @Greenshank could you add an explanation on how and why you think it is this species? For the term "carp" different species can add up, and crypnids are definitely diverse. @Great Argus since you seem to be good at Ids (I am too, you should see me at an aquarium fish tank :D) what do you think?

@Great Argus Crypnids in general scientists are still discovering, and are generally pretty murky when it comes to identifying different species, I can't keep up sometimes with all the new barbs, Rasbora's, and more that keep coming in.

@CheeseChameleon2007 Given there's over 400 genera and around 4,250 species belonging to the Cypriniformes, it's very difficult indeed to keep up. They're constantly getting shuffled and reworked. :p

@CheeseChameleon2007 sorry for lack of clarification, do you want to know what features of the fish got me to Cyprinus? As for how I knew it was this species I don't, but based on the fact that one species of Cyprinus, is pretty much ubiquitous in Europe whilst the others have to the best of my knowledge never been imported (except C. rubrofuscus in the form of koi which this isn't) makes me fairly confident what we are looking at here. So more of a process of elimination rather than any one feature of the fish confirming the species, if this was east Asia I definitely couldn't be so confident.
