@CheeseChameleon2007 me too! I'd only ever seen them in aquarium shops until I saw these. There were several males displaying to a group of females, could've watched them all day but sadly time is very limited whilst scuba diving
@CheeseChameleon2007 scuba diving is great but it's not for everyone. Sometimes I actually prefer snorkeling more as you get more time and freedom to watch and study the things you're interested in. In some parts of the world there is amazing marine life even in just a few feet of water, the photograph I posted of Chaetodon larvatus for example was taken whilst snorkeling just off of a beach. Anyway I hope you achieve your dream some day
@Greenshank I get confused with snorkeling and scuba diving, and I definitely want to go snorkeling, I was thinking of that when I was thinking of scuba diving, pardon my stupidity.
I would love to go anywhere thats not the U.S. but of course with travel restrictions thats now super difficult, and I would never be able to go.
@CheeseChameleon2007 no need to apologise. Just for snorkeling you don't need any training or expensive gear just a mask and fins and the ability to swim.
I try to remain optimistic and believe the current restrictions on travel will be lifted eventually (though don't want to get into a debate about this please). You may be surprised to hear that you do have coral reefs in the US but only south Florida and the keys as far as I know

Well luckily, I am a really good swimmer, probably one of my favorite outdoor activities other than sledding in the wintertime.
@CheeseChameleon2007 sounds like you'd definitely enjoy it then! I try snorkeling on any coast there is clear, calm water and rocks, even here in the UK there is a lot to see. But definitely not swimming outdoors here in winter given our climate! I hope you get a chance to give snorkeling a try some day
