Reptile Tropics is a walk-through indoor exhibit with tropical planting and a dozen or so vivariums for reptiles spaced out on either side of the path that loops through the building. There are also 2 netted enclosures for a juvenile crocodile and Indonesian box turtles and 3 open exhibits for red and yellow-footed tortoises, Home's hinge-backed tortoises and the adult Malayan box turtle, which contains this pool. There are also several species of birds flying free inside the house, including Java sparrows, speckled mousebirds, weavers, various softbills etc. The shallow end of the pool is partly overhung by shrubs and is a favourite bathing place, particularly at quiet times when there are not too many visitors around.
