@devilfish I am curious, how many Great slaty woodpecker (Mulleripicus pulverulentus) did you see at Ueno Zoo? and are they breeding them? Also if you don't mind my asking, do you happen to know where they came from?
I only saw one on-show this January. It's in quite a big multi-species aviary, and took me quite a while to find. I assume it's the only one in there but I wouldn't like to swear to that.
@FunkyGibbon ah thank you for sharing this! Did you manage to get a photograph of this animal? I have to say, @devilfish did a fantastic job getting a close up especially being that it was in a multi-species aviary.
