Do by any chance remember the other species in this aviary? I see from these pictures that there are Roseate Spoonbills, African Sacred Ibises, Paradise Shelducks, Demoiselle Cranes, Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks, and Mallards.
@red river hog There are no signs whatsoever in the aviary, so I have no idea. The only other bird I have a photo of is a female Elliott's pheasant. I got photos of just about everything, but a few ducks were too far away to be IDed in a photo. There's a list of birds on their website, but I don't know if the duck, pheasant, etc species are all supposed to be in here.
@red river hog I was there earlier this year and the aviary was fairly empty. All I remember were black-bellied whistling duck and yellow billed stork.
I mean all I will say is the aviary was very barren of birds. It was advertised to have plenty of duck species, but that was incorrect obviously. The storks were new though and probably don't mix great with smaller species.
Wikipedia said that it opened with waterfowl, inlcuding Yellow-billed Ducks, Mandarin Ducks, Paradise Shelducks, Ringed Teals, Common Shelducks, Rosy-billed Pochards, and Red-crested Pochard. It also said that there were Golden Pheasants, Lady Amherst's Pheasants, and Swinhoe's Pheasants. On an unrelated note: do they still have Steenboks?
@red river hog It also opened over a decade ago, though. They haven't had steenbok in years; Animal Kingdom Lodge, Zoo Miami, and I think Abilene are the only places in the US with the species.
@red river hog Yeah, it's quite out of date. Just glancing at the mammal list, they don't have white-tail, takin, or pronghorn, and several others are iffy if they still have them behind the scenes or not.
