I 'rescued' this stick insect from the small creek I had been wading in, and put it on a leaf, near the Kankakee river in north western Illinois

Pardon my wet fingers...
They just took a dip to scoop up this common walking stick (Diapheromera femorata) from a 'crick' that flows into the kankakee river.
