Taken 11/3/20. This fine reptile and amphibian complex opened in 2015 and is set within 2 buildings. Georgia Extremes is a very small building with native animals, while Main Building houses the bulk of the inhabitants.
Thanks for uploading a series of photos of Zoo Atlanta's new Reptile House. It's taken 5 years for a ZooChatter to offer up a comprehensive tour of the exhibits rather than just close-ups of the inhabitants. Zoo Atlanta appears to have a terrific complex and it wouldn't surprise me if some zoo nerds ranked it as the 2nd best Reptile House in the USA, although surely it falls short of what is found in MOLA at Fort Worth Zoo. That zoo in Texas has 100 separate exhibits as part of MOLA, 114 species of reptiles and amphibians, and 156 species in total...some of which are in spectacular exhibits.
@snowleopard I enjoyed the facility, the interiors of many of the exhibits were well executed and the large atrium area is memorable (although it houses very few of the complex's inhabitants). However, I visited Fort Worth's MOLA a month later and it is still the leader by far! I wish Dallas would build an even grander facility for its fantastic collection, that would be fun to have dueling metro-area reptile houses.
Thank you very much @geomorph for all the pictures of this really nice facility.
I would love to see more facilities like this in Europe (we have some in Berlin, Cologne, Wroclaw... but not enough in my opinion) and one at least in France !
