Red-flanked variegated squirrel - Sciurus variegatoides atrirufus

Squirrels are often underrated animals, especially when you look at the astounding biodiversity and colorfulness of some of these south Asian squirrels.

@CheeseChameleon2007 They are indeed beautiful but also very elusive. Many of them are fairly easy to keep but they can be almost invisible.

@Rayane Prevost's squirrels, (a related species) are actually quite acitve when I've seen them, and them being elusive is expected, because they are quite the frantic and scared group of species, being main prey for predators in the area.

@CheeseChameleon2007 - this is a Central American squirrel, not Asian. It is in a different subfamily to Prevost's Squirrel and is only related in that it is also a squirrel.
