@Tim May What is your memory of the apiary exhibit at London Zoo (shown on the map between the elephants and Kodiak bear)? Was it an area where they did beekeeping demonstrations or something like that?
Some beehives were situated in this area of the zoo but I have no recollection of any beekeeping demonstrations being given here. Although I was only a very young child at the time and, with both elephants and Kodiak bears to attract my interest, I would have paid scant attention to the bees.
I also remember an observational beehive in the entrance of the old Insect House; this had a glass wall so the bees could be viewed inside the hive.
