Nocturnal part of Naturama

July 26 2014
Such a shame they don't have a nocturnal area anymore, what animals were held in here?

A lot and very nice ones ! To name just a few : Aardvark, Kantjils ( 2 species ) Australian waterrats, fruitbats, armadillos, tamanduas, Galago's, springhares, plump and slender loris and so on.....

@vogelcommando

That sucks! (that is was removed, I mean)

I've never seen active aardvarks, as the ones in Burgers Zoo are always asleep.

And I've never seen a tamandua or springhare at all!

I'm just glad they still have one enclosure with active sloths and agoutis

I think you are confused with another zoo. AquaZoo Leeuwarden has not had any of these animals, except for the armadillos. But the animal species that have been in the nocturnal part were still nice. Over the years there were Pale spear-nosed bat, Fennec fox, Poison dart frogs, Mangrove monitor, Yellow anaconda, Night monkeys (Douroucoulis), Corn snake, Dwarf crocodile and the ‘Griezelgrot’ (Creepy cave) with: Brown rat, East African cave cricket, Madagascar hissing cockroach, Corn snake and Mexican redknee Tarantula.

@MennoPebesma : You are completely right ! The photo was realy made at Leeuwarden, the species I mentioned in the comments are the ones of the now closed nocturnal house of Antwerp Zoo, don't know how this could happen !
Species I remember which were realy kept at Naturama were :
Leaf-nosed bats
Douroucoulis
Armadillo's
and caiman
