Nice photo. I don’t suppose you remember how many sea lions were in the exhibit on your visit? Auckland Zoo had 3.4 sea lions at the start of 1996, but two males were exported later that year.
I have six other photos that may have been taken in 95/96 from different angles, and the most that any one photo shows is 3 Sealions. There could have been more but I could only capture 3 in one photo.
@CarLarchameleon That’s all good. I’m not sure what year Scuttles (the bull) was castrated, but it would have been after he sired a pup in 1995. It’s possible that the two older bulls were kept separate from the cows during 1996, until the export of the two youngest bulls later that year. That said, I don’t know what capacity this exhibit (1922 original exhibit) had for separating sea lions, if any.
