Took this photo in July 2019 in the capybara pen. I can not for the life of me figure out what species it is. I know they have whistling ducks but that’s definitely not this. Could it be some kind of mallard or teal hybrid?
@SaritaWolf Ah yeah I see what you mean. It could possibly be a hybrid like you said (maybe Chestnut Teal was one of the parents) or a breed of Domestic Duck?
This is probably wood duck Aix sponsa x Northern shoveler Spatula clypeata. White in head comes from wood duck, while the black bill is slightly spatulate
