Crocodile at Philadelphia Zoo

This crocodile is signed as a Nile, but it’s actually a West African Crocodile (Crocodylus suchus), if I’m remembering correctly.

@red river hog I was looking through the archives in zoo news here and it sounds like they switched out their Nile crocodiles for west African crocodiles in 2019. I took this photo in 2017.
However, they could have just updated the signs in 2019? Since the species was only recently split.

@SaritaWolf Oh right, so this must be a Nile Crocodile then.

The zoo had two, the male died however in 2017. They both are/were west African crocodiles, not Nile crocodiles.they are two separate species.

@Kevin2342 They used to be considered one species, but were then split. I think they just updated the signs for them.
