Bush Wren (Xenicus longipes)

February 2021
This specimen was a pain to photograph. It is inside a tiny glass dome, presumably a Victorian-era display item, and then is inside a glass display cabinet, so there are two sets of reflections to deal with!

Bush Wrens are now extinct. They belonged to an endemic family called New Zealand Wrens, of which only two species still survive, the forest-dwelling Rifleman and the alpine Rock Wren.
