The front of this exhibit is double-glassed and the huntsmen spend the day between the two sheets of glass, presumably thinking themselves hidden from view.
This species of spider is Australian but has been introduced to New Zealand where it is now common in parts of Auckland. The spiders used in the movie Arachnophobia were this species.
