spider exhibit in a bookcase

February 2021
It wasn't really possible to get a proper photo due to the reflections off the glass, but there are three shelves in the "bookcase". The top two shelves have books in them, some of which are A-framed to provide spaces for Australian Redbacks to build webs between. The lowest shelf - mostly hidden here by reflection - is a "storage shelf" with little bottles and jars etc, and this is the exhibit for the Social Huntsman Spiders. The front is double-glassed and the huntsmen spend the day between the two sheets of glass, presumably thinking themselves hidden from view.

I really like this enclosure, especially on how it's themed. With how the spider species in the bookcase (Redback Spider & Social Huntsmen/Avondale Spider) would usually be found hiding in many places in an Australian house.
