New Tigerfish exhibit

The former Alligator Gar exhibit has been converted into a new exhibit for African and Goliath Tigerfish, although the ones here are still finger-sized. The adult Tigerfish are still displayed at the Nile River tank. Sharing the new exhibit are African Pike (also finger-sized), Hornet Tilapia, Tailspot Ctenopoma and unsigned Distichodus.

With this change, all the previous Mississippi exhibits have been converted to house African species. The Mississippi River zone is no more, with all signages related to the Mississippi having been removed.

I'm looking at this thinking "even at finger-sized, those Congo Tetras aren't going to be lasting long with the Tigerfish..."

@Great Argus for now the Fahakas are still quite small. River Safari had previously kept an adult Mbu with Congo Tetra without predation issues (the Mbu was fed shrimps). I'm not sure how the Fahakas will behave though as they grow bigger.

@Great Argus have personally kept Fahaka with other community fish in the past with good results, not all of them are murderous savages.

@Zooish Mbu is a hit-and-miss but they're the "best" large puffer to cohab with fish owing to their generally docile and laidback behaviour to other species, in fact in the aquarium hobby them, Amazon Puffers and Congo Spotted Puffees are probably the top three species any aquarist would recommend if you're looking for a peaceful community puffer.

RIP Mississippi River
2013-2021

Gone but not forgotten, but I found the Congo theme to be more interesting
