Arizona Docent

blonde morph javelina

April 6, 2021, condominium in the Tucson Mountains
Javelinas (collared peccaries) in groups of varying size visit the lawn at my condominium every day. I have noticed one of the juveniles (pictured at left) has a very light coat. None of the other juveniles that size have this - they are all dark gray like the adult pictured at right. It will be interesting to see if it maintains this light coloration as an adult.
