African Plains - Red River Hog

@Kevin2342 I did see one White Stork on this visit and one on the previous visit, but I didn't see the other one. Also, I thought the Saddle-billed Storks passed away. Did they get a new one?

@Fignewton the zoo has had two saddle-billed storks for many years. They both came in 1986. The female “Grace” died back before the COVID-19 shutdown(she was very old, at least 34 years old). I have not heard anything “Will”, the male, but did he die too? If so, he was very old, at least 34 years old. I have not been to the zoo since the shutdown so even though I thought the zoo still has one saddle-billed stork anything could have happened. Plus, are the saddle-billed storks still signed? If not, the zoo should probably no longer keep any.

@Fignewton it’s possible you didn’t see Will the saddle-billed stork. The Phase is a big space and there is an area behind the rocks where the animals can hide from view if they want. Also, he may have been inside and I would not be surprised if Will was having health issues since he is very old now. On my last visit before the shutdown,I only saw the red river hogs in the Phase. I have headed that there is water in the enclosure but I have not seen it so I think it should be behind the rocks where people cannot see it.
