It must be pretty cool for visitors to see rhino so close, but I though rhinos (particularly blacks, but I can't tell from the photo) were quite terratorial and so I would of thought being so close would stress them out?
It is 2021, the rhino exhibit is as yet operating normally. The female rhino was sent on breeding loan elsewhere years ago, however the bull remains at Koelner Zoo.
It has been communicated in the newest Masterplan the intention is no longer to have a new black rhino habitat .... - alas - .... and change for white rhinos in the new African savannah (to be built at some undisclosed moment in time in the not too distant future).
