I wonder if this dreadful enclosure is even legally large enough for this particular species? What kind of person keeps coatis in such a tiny, all-indoor exhibit?
@snowleopard I'm surprised it's legal in NJ, which has some of the strictest animal laws in the country (you can't physically interact with the otters or sloth at this location, unlike the other SeaQuests, for example). I've heard this isn't even the worst coati exhibit within the chain
This seems to me like it's a facility that needs to stay in its lane. Looking at all the photos, a lot of the fish tanks, and most of the herp ones, while not perfect do seem decent, it's just some of these mammal exhibits that are horrific. Remove these and you actually have an alright facility, not a roadside hellhole.
@TinoPup that is definitely a valid point, and it's a fair consideration, however the people running it should ask themselves why they do it, out of a love for animals or desire to make money. I wish it was the first, but unfortunately with this kind of place it's likely the second.
