Indeed it is, and looks like a great improvement over their old, all indoor exhibit.

May I ask what the theme of "Revolution Ridge" is exactly? It seems like a rather random assortment of animals without any rime or reason. All of the exhibits look nicely done despite a few aesthetic head scratchers.

The point of Revolution Ridge is that it contains animals that the majority of people haven't herd about (Cassowary, Okapi, Serval), gives better habitats to some of the animals (Fishing Cat and Red Pandas), and to have animals that have never been kept in the state (Pygmy Hippos, Black-footed cats, and Caribbean Flamingos) and that all of these animals are in need of help.

So the name actually comes from the fact that the site and surrounding area were part of a battleground during the revolutionary war. The zoo makes the connection that wildlife globally are now in a struggle for there freedom, including many of the species included. The species selection process involved consideration of species not currently on display in the state of NC or that hadn’t been kept previously. Most of the species bar flamingo and sand cat are not at the NC Zoo which is just 50 minutes away. Greensboro Science Center’s never really been focused on ABC species and hence about 5 years ago put together the list of species we now see exhibited.
