Primate Canopy Trails - Opening 2021

Taken 5/5/21. This exhibit complex will be an outdoor extension of the zoo's historic Primate House.
Do the enclosures remind you of the primate enclosures at San Diego Zoo's Africa Rocks? The airy angular spaces look like a similar concept from the concept drawing and the construction photos.

@DavidBrown Yes these are similar but sort of an inverted version of the Africa Rocks. As for the elevated boardwalk for visitors, I have seen very similar elevated walkways with a large running steel support rail at the Texas Discovery Garden's Butterfly House, Fernbank Museum of Natural History's WildWoods, and California Academy of Sciences' Rainforest.

Does that mean they're working on outdoor enclosures for species that don't have those yet?

@ralph yes these new enclosures will be warm weather habitats for various species that normally have indoor exhibits, and I think they will change day to day to rotate some of the species outside since there are more indoor exhibits than new outdoor habitats.

Great. I always can appreciate when a zoo chooses to invest in improving living conditions for animal species already present instead of building enclosures for new species to draw in more visitors.
