We may be hundreds of miles away from an ocean, but that doesn't mean it's entirely out of our reach. In 1991 the Shedd Aquarium brought a slice of the Pacific Northwest to Chicago - an awe inspiring attraction that is still claimed as the world's largest marine mammal indoor pavillion. Settled along a rocky shore that blends with the waters of Lake Michigan, are harbors and lagoons teaming with rescued sea otters, barking sea lions, chirping belugas, and one of the world's most athletic dolphins. On this episode, you'll quickly realize why the AZA gave this project the Top Honors award for exhibit design, and why it continues to inspire millions of people ever year. Enjoy.
