Fly River Turtle, ‘Western Ghats’ exhibit

Otherwise known as ‘Piku’ in the Rumu language, this is geographically an odd choice for a South Asian-themed exhibit.

However, the animals contrast well alongside the more traditional-looking Indian spotted turtles, thus providing guests an insight into the various morphologies that turtles can come in.
 
@Fargusno There used to be a single Carettochelys in the Mary River zone, but it remained there for a relatively short period of time.

As for Indian flapshell turtles, although certainly ideal for the South Asian theming, I don't think the zoo bears any in the collection.
