Polar Bear Exhibit, Arctic Tundra - July 2021

Thanks for an excellent assortment of updated photos of Lincoln Park Zoo. How much more space is there to this Polar Bear exhibit?

@Moebelle Thanks for the reply. That translates to 0.16 acres, a measly amount for a modern-day Polar Bear exhibit. The zoo did a great job in terms of creating an aesthetically pleasing enclosure from an old bear grotto, but it's still way too small.

@snowleopard I'll definitely agree that this is among one of the smaller polar bear enclosures that have emerged over the past decade, but one thing I really appreciate is the variable levels of terrain in the exhibit. I think thats why I prefer more than many others. For the space the zoo had to work with, I think they did a fine job.

America has a whole lot of average polar bear exhibits, not much bad left thankfully (Milwaukee and Point Defiance), but very little truly exceptional as well (Columbus and Detroit). Lincoln Park definitely fits into the first category as do zoos Like Brookfield, Saint Louis, Como Park, Kansas City and Henry Vilas of exhibits that are good, but are simply just a bit tight space.
