I will say that certain habitats/ecosystems in Iran do look reminiscent of those in Africa, even Sub-Saharan Africa. As said in the documentary Wild Iran, the country has habitats that look uniquely African and those that are uniquely European. This should not come as a surprise, as Iran is practically at a zoogeographic crossroad, between the Ethiopian/Afrotropical, Palearctic, and Oriental. Technically Iran is a part of the Palearctic, but if you look at a map of the world's zoogeographic realms, you will see what I mean.
