It is built on the top of a hill and the building in back is the backside of a two story cafe building. The service counter is on the other side lower level (you go down the hill on the side - there is no public indoor area). However on the weekday I visited it was closed, presumably due to low visitor numbers. Thankfully I had brought my own lunch, which I never do at zoos, but @TinoPup had forewarned me they only serve hot dogs and hamburgers (which I would not eat).
@Arizona Docent I'm surprised it was closed, it's always been open on my visits, but didn't open until several hours after the zoo did. Then it would get swamped. I like burgers, but I've only gotten a drink there, as by the time I was hungry enough for food it was too busy (I don't mind a bit of a wait, but standing in the sun with a bunch of screaming kids crosses a line for me )
