innovative fossil display

September 2021
Unlike my friend @UngulateNerd92 I have not been to many natural history museums (and none in the last few years). The display here is unlike anything I have seen, but having not seen much I don't know if this is unique or a new trend nationwide. The glass pyramid houses a couple (real) fossils. A video hologram appears with a paleontolgist (dressed like Indiana Jones) on top of one giving a narrative. He is sitting on a bison and moves slightly as he talks. If you look at it from the front you see his front view but if you look at it from either side you get his side view. Several of the fossil displays here had similar innovations.

@Arizona Docent I have never seen this in the natural history museums I have visited... Thank you for sharing this with me. To be frank, I am not the biggest fan of using holograms in these displays... they seem cheesy and non sequitur. I appreciate you sharing this with me though.
