Although the Banded Mongoose is not an uncommon species in European collections, the individuals held at Tierpark Berlin - representing pure subspecific animals - were lifeticks and, being highly visible sunbathing by one wall of their enclosure, I was able to view them at my leisure.
These individuals were held in the small carnivore complex near the Alfred-Brehm Haus.
