Toledo Zoo really excels with its historical buildings (Aviary, Natural History Museum, Reptile House, Aquarium), but other sections (Tembo Trail, Tiger Terrace, Arctic section) are quite poor. It would be nice for the zoo to raise the funds to completely demolish most of Tiger Terrace and that would allow the construction of an entirely new complex.
@snowleopard I believe a Forests section is next up on the Zoo’s project list. As far as I know it’ll include brown bears and Amur tigers, and I’d imagine more species would be included too. Unless the Zoo expands outside its boundaries, I was thinking Tiger Terrace could go in favor of the new development.
The tigers should be getting a new exhibit on land previously not used for exhibits. It seems like the zoo plans to keep several pairs as part of a breeding complex (like Omaha).
Brown bears will recieve an expanded exhibit closer to this area though. The attached plan is a variety of projects, submitted to the city this summer.
