Tiger

View of 98% of the tiger habitat.
@Mr Gharial Yeah, it is under sized by today's standards. Neither lynx or coati would really fit the area it is in at the zoo (Asian Domain, with a focus on tropical species only). They do have clouded leopards that could work there, they reside in the off display areas currently. At one time the zoo had persian leopards, which could also be OK in that size enclosure, but they are long gone.

Netting the entire enclosure would be a fairly simple option with any minor renovation of the habitat. The tree in the middle could be removed and replaced with a central support and the rest of the netting could attach to the mock rock and boardwalk.

@Mr Gharial It does add a fair amount of interest and is a nice tree. However, it probably won't live more than 10-15 more years as it is. A well done mock tree that had more climbing space would serve the animals better, IMO.

What about smooth-coated otters? They're a larger otter species, and if you have a decent sized group, they'd make great use of the exhibit.

@ThomasNotTom interesting idea, that would be pretty cool. I am not sure that the zoo administration would want to do that though, I think they would want a flashy animal for the space. Personally I think the best use of the space would be a remodel and combining it with the sun bear habitat (sending the bears out).
