This is one of a couple of areas I missed (the other being the pelicans) when I visited in April.
I'm glad I missed it, it would have soured an otherwise great couple of days. I can accept the ABH (just) on the basis they're looking to change it but this is beyond the pale.
I'm assuming the "it's temporary" defence is not applicable here?
I thought this was much worse than the ABH too.
The only thing going for this building is that it houses Himalayan Striped Squirrels (lovely things) and Short-eared Elephant-shrews in quite nice enclosures.
But for three sun bears, whilst aesthetically dire there is a fair amount of space? Just because they're behind bars doesn't mean that they're having a sh*t time.
