Great Bustard (Otis tarda) at Tierpark Berlin - April 8th 2014

A species which, a few hundred years ago, I could have easily seen in the English countryside. However, the ravages of time and man have left a toll on the taxon, and now it is one of the European bird species in most need of protection.

A species we've still never seen. Where are these kept? I presume near the pheasantry? They weren't there, or we missed them in September 2013.

They literally arrived about a week before our trip, and are kept free-roaming on one of the lawns near Schloss Friedrichsfelde.

On the following map the correct area would be the large triangular lawn immediately above and to the right of the Schloss:
